Night in: Homemade Sushi
Not in the mood to go out and want to save money on buying take out on a night in?
How about trying to make sushi!
It’s super simple, cheap and easy to make. It is also completely customisable to what you like to eat. Sushi is great and fun meal to prepare for and experience with a date, friends, children or family. Ingredients can be easily substituted and changed to suit dietary requirements such as vegetarian or changed to healthier options such as using brown rice instead or white rice.
The sushi that was made used short rice with rice vinegar (optional), seaweed, Japanese mayonnaise and chicken.

Tips for making sushi:
- Fanning rice to cool makes it glossy and sticky
- Avoid putting rice on one edge so rice doesn’t over spill
- If you don’t like the taste of sushi roll the rice on the outside (it masks the flavour) you could even top it with sesame seeds.
- Water can stick the final edge of the sushi together
All you need to make sushi is rice, seaweed (nori) and any fillings that you like.
